"I spent a big $3 on the iPhone app MotionX
GPS Drive. It works very well. There is real-time routing with Live Voice Guidance for audible
turn-by-turn navigation available for a free 30-day trial / $25 per year if you like
it."

out this review of MotionX GPS Drive for more details.)

Travel Tips for Packing Luggage
and Toiletries
|
"My top travel companion is the zip-lock bag. I was using them long before the TSA made them a
fashion item for one’s toiletries. I keep two or three quart-size & several gallon-size in my
luggage. I put coins, the phone, my watch & other metal stuff in one of them before approaching
security. I put my iPod & headphones in another. Another is for coins. That way, I can pull it
all out easily after security. (I also always keep my toiletries in the gallon-size ones. If
something leaks, it's contained & I can just toss the bag).
I also make 'clothes sandwiches.' My belief is that clothes WILL get wrinkled when travelling,
and it is up to me to decide where the wrinkles will be. What I do is take two stiff pieces of
cardboard & two or three big rubber bands. Then I fold my shirts & pants so
the creases will be where I want them to be. Then I put them between the two pieces of
cardboard & put the rubber bands around it. That way it presses the clothes together
on the folds I want."

"Buy an extra battery for your cell phone (a battery-powered charger, found at Radio Shack, can
charge your phone). Use a travel battery for your laptop. Use your smart phone as a modem to
connect to the Internet."

"If you're making a tight connection, call your airline's Flight Line to check the status of your
connecting flight when you land. This will let you know if it's on-time and more importantly, what gate
it's leaving from. Those few minutes you save in the terminal can be the difference between catching
your flight and missing it." |
