Want to see why I love the BBC's Top Gear? To laugh along with my favorite Top Gear quotes, click here.

I’ll admit it: I’m a “Top Gear”
junkie.
The hit BBC automotive show is laugh-out-loud funny, but what caught my attention last week wasn't
the airport vehicle drag race or the carboat
challenge...
...it was the news that we each spend an average of FOUR YEARS
stuck…
absolutely stuck…
in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
|
Now that’s pretty bleak news for the average bloke. But you’re not average, so there's no need to just sit there
sucking down second-hand exhaust smoke.
It’s time to geek your ride.
Let’s do the math: if you have a mere 20-minute commute, five days a week, for 40 weeks a
year (we’ll be generous and give you lots of vacation time), that’s 4000 minutes of transit time per year, or
67 hours- - about the equivalent of two college courses.
If you’re commuting more than 20 minutes a day, you've got about a
whole semester’s worth of learning available to you.
And imagine: there are no prerequisites, no restrictions, and no limits to what you can
study. You can stimulate creativity by listening to a variety of topics or become an expert by
deep-diving into a series of
materials.
So what have you always wanted to know more about… if only you had the
time?
This week, treat yourself to an audiobook from your favorite store or pick one up from the
library for the low, low price of free. Pop it in whenever you can, and stick to the number-one rule of the
totally nerdlicious ride: you've got to love what you're learning about, and if one "class" isn't working,
drop it and pick up another.
Where do you want to take your brain
today?
